The event was a two-day interactive workshop, organized within the framework of GPSC’s 3rd Global Meeting, that brought together government officials from 12 Latin American and Caribbean cities and 4 Chinese cities, internal technical teams and international experts, to help delegations identify barriers, challenges ahead and an action plan to implement TOD projects in their cities.

The session provides an overview of the steps necessary to assess the characteristics of a city when undertaking an ToD initiative, such as the definition of the scale of work, the scope of the intervention area and the identification of stakeholders to undertake ToD projects.

In this session, participants discuss the necessary steps to create an enabling environment and generate a governance structure for the correct implementation of ToD projects. This activity includes a role game.

This session identifies a set of financing instruments, both public and private, reviewing the tools already used by cities to achieve the development of ToD projects.

This session includes a field visit, where the local expert will showcase the planning principles and design components of a real urban project. Urban design approaches for multimodal integration and public space are discussed.
