The Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC), led by the World Bank, convened the first Program Coordination Committee (PCC) meeting of the Global Environment Facility's eighth replenishment (GEF-8) Sustainable Cities Integrated Program (SCIP) on October 6–8, 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from participating countries and cities, GEF Implementing Agencies, the GEF Secretariat, and GPSC core partners to exchange information on project implementation, discuss emerging priorities and challenges, and identify opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing across the program.

To facilitate participation across different time zones, the meeting was organized into three regional sessions covering Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia and Europe and Central Asia.

The discussions provided an opportunity for country teams to present their projects, share implementation progress and immediate priorities, and highlight areas where GPSC and its partners could provide technical support, facilitate peer learning, and foster collaboration.

The information shared during the meetings will also inform GPSC's ongoing portfolio analysis and help tailor future knowledge activities, technical exchanges, and program support to the needs of participating countries and cities.

The first PCC meeting was organized into three regional sessions, following a common agenda that included a GEF-8 SCIP and GPSC overview, country project presentations, discussion, and next steps.
