ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments across over 125 countries, working to advance sustainable, resilient, equitable, and nature-positive urban development. A long-standing partner of the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC), ICLEI has actively contributed to the GEF-6, GEF-7, and GEF-8 Sustainable Cities programs through technical expertise, capacity building, workshops, knowledge products, and peer-to-peer learning. With more than two decades of experience in urban biodiversity, ICLEI supports cities in integrating nature into urban planning and development through its global Cities Biodiversity Center, the CitiesWithNature initiative, and its engagement with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

ICLEI has been an active partner of the Urban Nature Program since its launch at COP28 in 2023 and serves as a host of the Urban Nature Network, bringing its expertise in connecting local action with global biodiversity and climate agendas. Through its hosting role, ICLEI supports knowledge exchange and dialogue on international biodiversity and climate processes, helping cities understand global commitments, share experiences, and translate international policy developments into practical action at the local level.
