This synthesis report brings together the key findings from the NATURESCAPES thematic report series, providing an independent academic assessment of the GEF Sustainable Cities Program's experience in advancing urban sustainability. Based on a systematic review of 29 projects, interviews with GEF Agencies and partners, and expert consultation, the report examines three critical dimensions of urban transformation: integration, financing, and just transition. It distills practical lessons and recommendations to help policymakers, practitioners, and development partners design integrated, financeable, and equitable urban solutions that accelerate climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable urban development.
