Advancing Green and Blue Infrastructure for Konya, Türkiye

17 JULY 2026

This report presents a strategic framework for advancing green and blue infrastructure (GI/BI) in Konya, Türkiye, to strengthen climate resilience, biodiversity, and urban livability. Building on the city's climate action priorities, it develops an ecological planning framework based on ecotopes—spatial units that characterize local ecological conditions—to guide the planning and design of nature-based solutions across the city. The report identifies five pilot investments, including ecological corridors, groundwater recharge, green streets, eco-tourism, and wetland restoration, and outlines practical recommendations for scaling these initiatives into a city-wide GI/BI strategy. Together, these recommendations position Konya to become a regional leader in nature-based urban development and climate adaptation.
