The European Space Agency (ESA) is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to space exploration, Earth observation, and the development of satellite-based technologies that support environmental monitoring and sustainable development. Through its advanced geospatial data and analytical capabilities, ESA has been a key knowledge partner of the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) across both GEF-6 and GEF-8 cycles. ESA co-led learning activities and technical trainings, particularly on the use of Earth observation and geospatial tools for urban planning, and contributed to the development of knowledge products that strengthen data-driven decision-making in cities. This collaboration has enabled participating cities to improve spatial analysis, integrate environmental data into planning processes, and support more evidence-based and integrated urban development.
