Alex Chunet

Alex Chunet works at the European Space Agency (ESA) at the intersection of space, climate, development finance and global partnerships. He supports development and climate finance institutions worldwide in leveraging Earth observation technologies and leads strategic international partnerships under the EU Global Gateway initiative, including the Africa-EU Space Partnership Programme and CopernicusLAC. He previously served as ESA’s representative to the World Bank (2021–2024), where he helped integrate space technologies into development finance operations. Before that, he worked as a geospatial data scientist at the World Bank and led the development of Agence Française de Développement’s first geospatial strategy. Alex holds a Master of Science from the London School of Economics, a Masters in Public Management from Sciences Po Paris, and has completed trainings from the MIT, the French Space Agency, and EUMETSAT in Data Science and Earth Observation technologies.
