Pointe-Noire, the Republic of Congo’s main economic and port city, participates alongside Brazzaville in the GEF-8 Sustainable Cities Integrated Program (SCIP). Through the project, the city aims to advance integrated, nature-positive urban development, addressing challenges associated with rapid urban expansion, coastal vulnerability, biodiversity loss, and pressure on natural ecosystems.

Activities focus on strengthening urban planning, promoting green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, and integrating environmental considerations into urban investments. Through the GPSC, Pointe-Noire also benefits from technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge exchange with other participating cities, supporting its transition toward a more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable urban future.
