Welcome to the 7th edition of our Speakers Series on Cities on the Frontline, exploring how cities around the world are responding to Covid-19. For this week’s session of Cities in the Frontline, we welcomed Dr. Jeremy Lim, Co-Director of Global Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Melissa Kwee, CEO, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre/City of Good Campaign, Singapore to share on “Learning from Singapore”.

This session touched on an overview of Singapore’s success in the first wave (‘imported’ and secondary cases) and the factors behind this. Factors such as clear communications and the involvement of the whole of government, business, and civil society have been the hallmarks of Singapore's response to date. Yet, recently Singapore is struggling to contain the worker dormitories’ outbreaks in this second wave. A critical analysis of the latest situation and how actors across the city are uniting in unprecedented ways to support the foreign workers was also discussed.
