Nieves Peña is a senior researcher on Climate Change Adaptation in the Energy, Climate, and Urban Transition Division of TECNALIA Research Center. He has a BSc in Physics at Basque Country University and certified as entrepreneur coach by Tiimiakatemia, University of Applied Sciences (Finland). Nieves’s research interest lies in designing and delivering of climate services based on Earth observation and past, present and future Copernicus and Destination Earth data. She has worked in several European research projects such as RAMSES, ARCH and REACHOUT to contribute to the development of climate services and measures to strength the resilience of communities, cities and/or regions - covering both adaptation to climate change and disaster risk management. She is currently working in the UNDERPIN European project, which aim to developing a robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework based on impact indicators. She is also responsible of the user engagement strategy on an ECMWF contract that will contribute with the development of an Urban Heat Service in the context of Destination Earth that will use Destination Earth’s Climate Adaptation digital twin (Climate DT) and Earth Observation data to support decision-makers in the assessment of heat stress and heat stress adaptation options.
