Guntur, located in Andhra Pradesh, joined the GEF-6 Sustainable Cities Integrated Approach Pilot (SCIAP) to strengthen urban sustainability through improved wastewater management and collaborative governance. As a key transportation hub, Guntur leveraged the program to establish a multi-sectoral partnership platform connecting technical, financial, and social stakeholders. The project supported the design of sewage treatment facilities for biogas capture, integrating clean energy generation with improved sanitation. Through partnerships with the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC), Guntur’s experience has helped promote knowledge exchange and informed the scaling up of integrated, climate-smart urban management strategies across India.
