Barcelona is a leading example of how nature can be embedded into urban planning to create healthier, more resilient, and more livable cities. As part of the Urban Nature Program, the city shared its experience during the webinar Super-Proximity in Practice, showcasing innovative initiatives such as the Superblocks model, urban biodiversity management, strategies to address invasive and problematic species, and the Look After Your Tree Pit citizen engagement campaign. Barcelona's experience demonstrates how integrated, neighborhood-scale interventions can enhance public space, strengthen biodiversity, and improve quality of life while fostering active community participation.
