News

The latest edition of the GPSC newsletter highlights new milestones and knowledge emerging from the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities and its partners as cities accelerate the transition toward low-carbon, resilient, and nature-positive development. A key feature is the launch of the Sustainable City Project for the coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region under the GEF-8 Sustainable Cities Integrated Program (SCIP), advancing integrated solutions in low-carbon transportation, renewable energy, green buildings, and biodiversity conservation.

This issue also showcases practical experiences and insights from cities and partners around the world. Highlights include progress on green-gray infrastructure in Rwanda, wetland restoration in Kigali to strengthen flood resilience and urban livelihoods, and Cape Town’s efforts to build the economic case for nature-based infrastructure. The newsletter also features new knowledge products and webinars on topics such as Earth Observation for climate-informed urban planning, nature-based solutions for coastal resilience, and the next phase of global collaboration as the UrbanShift network transitions into the expanded GEF-8 Sustainable Cities program.
