PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet is a partnership initiative to document and promote examples of inspiring, replicable solutions across a range of conservation and sustainable development topics, enabling cross-sectoral learning and inspiration. PANORAMA allows practitioners to share and reflect on their experiences, increase recognition for successful work, and to learn with their peers how similar challenges have been addressed around the globe.

GPSC, together with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), coordinates the Sustainable Urban Development and Resilience Thematic Community (TC) on PANORAMA, now named PANORAMA Cities. This thematic community has compiled more than 200 solutions (case studies) on these important topics from across the world. The TC intends to showcase pragmatic solutions to pressing urban challenges, drawing on research and project experience from across the world. Their aim is to inform and inspire action to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of cities, where the future of humanity is said to lie.

Urban practitioners are encouraged to use the PANORAMA platform to share and reflect on their work, source insights and ideas, and learn from each other. As a multi-partner platform with a global userbase, PANORAMA can help to bring international recognition to the efforts of individuals and organisations that are championing solutions. It can also shine a spotlight on particular issues with which they are contending.

Urban Sustainability Framework

The Urban Sustainability Framework (USF) is a practical tool developed by the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) to help cities plan, finance, and implement integrated sustainability strategies. Designed for policymakers and practitioners, the USF supports cities in moving beyond sector-by-sector planning toward a holistic approach that balances economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social inclusion. At its core, the USF helps cities answer three fundamental questions: Where are we now? Where do we want to go? How do we get

The city-industry-climate nexus: Cities as engines of global net-zero transitions in a shifting world

By 2050, almost two-thirds of the world’s population will live in cities, which already consume most of the world’s energy and emit the majority of greenhouse gases. This makes urban areas central to both the causes of climate change and the solutions. The white paper argues that decarbonizing cities is not only environmental policy, but a strategic industrial agenda. It introduces the “city-industry-climate nexus,” where infrastructure, production systems, value chains, and climate action converge. Cities host the industries that supply
