The GPSC Resource Team utilized the C40-led FINANCING SUSTAINABLE AFRICAN CITIES FORUM 2019 to host a peer to peer exchange opportunity for the GPSC African Cities, namely Abidjan, Dakar and Johannesburg to learn from the Forum’s topic on financing sustainable and low carbon urban infrastructure. The Resource Team dedicated a GPSC-only peer to peer exchange on integrated urban planning and transit-oriented development. The working lunch was guided by a C40 moderator in order to guarantee a good conversational flow of the session. Given that Johannesburg was the host city, city delegates from Johannesburg initiated the conversation with a short presentation on Johannesburg’s experience with the “Corridors of Freedom” plan—a great example of integrated planning under the Transport Oriented Development (TOD) concept.
