Confronting the Urban Housing Crisis in the Global South: Adequate, Secure, and Affordable Housing" is a chapter of the World Resources Report: Towards a More Equal City. The study focuses on three actionable approaches city officials can use to address the housing crisis, while highlighting specific examples from around the world: (1) Utilizing participatory approaches to improving housing without relocating residents to the urban periphery (in situ upgrading); (2) Expanding rental markets for people across all income levels; and (3) Converting under-utilized, centrally located urban land into affordable housing in cities.
