Join us for a Special Earth Day Session where Mayor Sylvester Turner, City of Houston and Chairman of the R-Cities' Board of Directors will launch the Chair's Agenda. The Mayor’s Agenda calls for immediate investment in resilient climate-ready infrastructure that is equitable and produces green jobs in cities around the world.

During the session, speakers will highlight key opportunities for advancing this agenda by supporting cities in meeting targets of reduced greenhouse gas emissions, accelerating the transition to more sustainable energy sources, and ensuring investments in recovery are targeted to deliver resilient infrastructure.

The Mayor will be joined by Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, Dr. Sameh Wahba, Global Director of The World Bank's Urban Disaster Risk Management, Resilience, and Land Global Practice and R-Cities Board Member, as well as Marissa Aho, Chief Resilience Officer, City of Houston and North America representative at the R-Cities Global Steering Committee.

Cities on the Frontline is a virtual thought leadership speaker series. The series, which began in 2020 co-organized by the Resilient Cities Network and the World Bank Group’s City Resilience Program, provides city practitioners and the industries and residents that they support, an understanding and means for responding to the pandemic and associated stresses, as well as solutions for planning towards a more resilient recovery.
