Presenter: Dr. Jiang Yang
This presentation will focus on the use of big data techniques for measuring TOD and its impacts in China. Dr. Jiang will first introduce the data sources for TOD analysis and propose an evaluation framework reflecting the China’s context. Then he will explain the TOD scoring methodology and show results for 24 Chinese cities with urban rail. Combining the TOD scores and a variety of performance data, he will further confirm the existence of TOD-air quality and TOD-housing price association in China via statistical analysis. Finally, he will use Chongqing as an example to demonstrate how to model impacts of TOD planning on city-level VKT, energy consumption and CO2 emissions
Dr. Jiang is the deputy director at China Sustainable Transportation Center (CSTC). He has been managing a variety of projects in Chinese cities, including transit-oriented development, urban retrofits, non-motorized transportation system development and city carbon emissions evaluation. He also conducts related research and has published over 30 papers.
