In this presentation, Mr. Liu will share lessons learned from transit-oriented development (TOD) planning practices in Chinese cities such as Zhanjiang, Kunming and Shenzhen. The first part of the talk will introduce TOD planning in the context of Chinese statutory planning system. The second part will share a case-based analysis of TOD implementation in China. Finally, the challenging issues will be summarized and some recommendations will be proposed for further discussion.

Mr. Liu is the senior program specialist at China Sustainable Transportation Center (CSTC). His main practice areas include TOD land use planning, urban design, planning and design of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and urban renovation.
