Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, participated in the GEF-6 China Sustainable Cities Integrated Approach Pilot (SCIAP) to promote transit-oriented, low-carbon urban growth. Leveraging lessons from its first two metro lines, the project helped Nanchang integrate TOD planning into its broader urban strategy, revising zoning regulations and design standards around key transit corridors. This approach supports compact development, reduced transport emissions, and improved accessibility, positioning Nanchang as a model for mid-sized cities pursuing green and efficient urbanization in eastern China.
