There are many reasons why slums are at high rick: High population densities contribute to rapid and broader spread of infection which accelerates transmission, household overcrowding makes behaviors like social distancing difficult, poor living conditions exacerbate transmission slowing behavior, limited access to health services, reliance on crowded transport services increases contagion risk, working in the informal sector poses risks, and house large share of the urban population that make up the demographic dividend. This document analizes the different categories of responses by cities and countries around the world.
