Melaka State in Malaysia has strong sustainability aspirations and is an important member of the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC). To inform the next update to Melaka’s State Structure Plan, GPSC performed a sustainability outlook diagnostic to holistically consider six dimensions of the state’s urban sustainability.

The aggregated data by and for cities provides a strong justification for diplomacy around adaptation at key events, such as the High-Level Political Forum. The report targets local and regional governments with the aim to enhance understanding of planning, implementing, measuring, and reporting on climate change adaptation. This document will help activate the necessary awareness, modalities for support, and resources for cities and regions around the world to further commit, plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and report their climate actions, including adaptation efforts.

These thematic briefing sheets capture key transition challenges, solution pathways and city case studies from the Alliance cities in the field of infrastructure, mobility, energy and social transitions.

For the past seven years, Siemens Cities Center of Competence (CoC) has been collaborating with more than 15 cities across North America to support Chief Sustainability Officers in evaluating technology and infrastructure options for deep carbon reduction. This report synthesizes results from those studies, sharing best practices, lessons learned, and trends in results, which can be used by any city in North America.

This study looks at six initiatives around the world that aspire to facilitate city-business collaboration with holistic, multi-stakeholder approaches from: Urban Infrastructure Initiative by the WBCSD; Indore, India; Scania, Sweden; Houston, USA; Rakli, Finland and Bottrop, Germany. It provides insights into lessons learned and draws on the common aspects of the cases as well as some of their differences.
