There is a multitude of national and subnational organizations that control critical infrastructure in cities, however, there is often a lack of collaboration across these organizations that limits our understanding and ability to address and mitigate increasing risks in cities. To create resilient urban infrastructure, we need to shift from looking at infrastructure as individual assets to considering how assets are interdependent and contribute to the resilience of a place.

The fifth Cities on the Frontline session of 2022, jointly organized by Resilient Cities Network and the City Resilience Program, will focus on “Aligning Infrastructure for Resilience”. Join us to hear from different levels of city governance about their collaborative work to improve the capacity of urban assets to respond to and recover from shocks and stresses related to the interconnected challenges of aging infrastructure, shifting macro-economic trends, and climate change.

Featured Speakers

This session will feature presentations from Rory Butler, Associate Director at Infrastructure Australia, Kieron Hendicott, Executive Director of Infrastructure New South Wales, Bopha Lam, Director for Asset Management at Infrastructure New South Wales, and Beck Dawson the Chief Resilient Officer of the City of Sydney, and discussants including Brian Strong the Chief Resilience Officer of San Francisco and Monica Bennett, Director of Thought Leadership at Global Infrastructure Hub.

Cities on the Frontline is a virtual thought leadership speaker series. The series, which began in 2020 co-organized by the Resilient Cities Network and the World Bank Group’s City Resilience Program, provides city practitioners and the industries and residents that they support, an understanding and means for responding to the pandemic and associated stresses, as well as solutions for planning towards a more resilient recovery.
