About the series 

This is the first in a series of World Bank webinars to be hosted by the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) to provide the GEF-8 SCIP cities with a platform to enhance their project design capabilities in alignment with the program’s thematic areas. The webinars will facilitate knowledge sharing and learning from good practices, enabling participants to gain valuable insights and tailored guidance for developing sustainable and impactful projects. It will also provide networking opportunities for cities to connect with peers, experts, and potential partners and foster collaboration among cities facing similar challenges.  

 Overview of the session 

This webinar is designed to provide updates, guidance, and collaborative opportunities related to the GPSC and its associated initiatives. Key topics to be addressed include: 
 
- Status of Child Project Preparation: An overview of the progress and timelines for submitting child projects for GEF CEO approval, based on information shared by implementing agencies. 
- Integration of GPSC and Country/City Child Projects: A draft guidance note will be presented, outlining essential requirements to incorporate GEF and GPSC standards into the design of child projects, with an emphasis on obtaining endorsement and ensuring effective implementation. Feedback on the draft will be welcomed. 
- Work Plan for 2025: A presentation of GPSC’s proposed activities and priorities for the upcoming year. 
- Open Discussion: An opportunity to address any additional topics or concerns raised by participants.
