This session of 2021 Cities on the Frontline Speaker Series, jointly organized by Resilient Cities Network and the World Bank, co-hosted with the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ),  will focus on “Co-Designing a Resilient Recovery in Cities".

Event Summary
The Covid-19 pandemic has challenged the economic, environmental, and social systems of cities in unprecedented ways, exposing new vulnerabilities while compounding underlying stresses. On the other hand, urban recovery efforts provide a singular opportunity to tackle the immediate challenges posed by the pandemic while simultaneously accelerating the transition to an inclusive low-carbon economy. Cities must prioritize a resilient recovery to boost their economies, improve equity, and prepare communities for inevitable climate change and health threats, leveraging recovery to regalvanize sustainable development and build back better.
