The European Space Agency (ESA) supported GPSC by developing targeted geospatial city diagnostics and datasets for participating cities, enabling more granular analysis of urban dynamics. Through the EO4SD-Urban initiative, ESA provided city-level products such as urban extent mapping, land use analysis, and spatial diagnostics—illustrated by applications in cities like Bhopal. These reports translated satellite data into user-oriented tools tailored to local planning needs, supporting cities in understanding urban expansion, identifying development patterns, and strengthening evidence-based decision-making. By delivering standardized yet customizable geospatial products, ESA helped bridge the gap between advanced Earth observation technologies and practical urban planning applications within GEF-6 projects.
