The Green Infrastructure Framework for England

Natural England has launched its Green Infrastructure Framework. The Framework provides an England-wide evidence base to help local authorities and others target Green Infrastructure improvements where they are most needed - a vital step in improving access to nature. It is important for health and wellbeing, air quality, nature recovery and for delivering net zero targets, as well as for adapting to climate change by providing urban cooling and reducing flood risk.

The GPSC would like to invite you to explore the Green Infrastructure Web Portal and the products released. There is lots of great information that can help in planning Green Infrastructure networks. The Green Infrastructure Mapping (currently a beta version) can help map variations across England. It can support better planning for good quality Green Infrastructure and help to target the creation or improvement of Green Infrastructure where existing provision is poorest.

Natural England is the UK Government's adviser for the natural environment in England, and has worked with the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and other stakeholders to develop the Green Infrastructure Framework, which is a commitment of the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan.
